There are now several Folie Douce across the Alps, but our favourite remains the original – the Folie Douce in Val d’Isère.
This winter getting your dose of high-altitude cabaret will be even easier with the opening of the new high speed 10-person La Daille gondola. You can find out all you need to know about the new gondola in our detailed blog post about it from earlier this year.
A unique atmosphere
Located at 2400m an escalator takes you directly from the top of the lift to the terrace of the Folie Douce, where you can enjoy a unique atmosphere that many mountain restaurants have tried to copy, but never matched.
Private Parties at the Folie Douce
And if you’re looking for a location in resort to celebrate a special occasion, the venue has several rooms that can be booked for private parties.
New for this winter in the Val d’Isère Folie Douce is the Beaufort Gallery, a 200m2 cheese maturing room with views of Mont Blanc.
There’s also a wine cellar with nearly 3000 wines chosen by the sommelier of adjoining La Fruitière restaurant, which features a large rustic wooden table perfect for wine-tastings.
And while smoking in public places remains banned, located in the extension of the wine cellar is a cigar room with great views.
Ask your Ski Val rep
If you’d like more information on any of these, please ask your Ski Val representative in resort and they will be delighted to help. The Folie Douce opens for the season on 24 November.
