RESORT MANAGER

Responsible to: HR Manager
Responsible for: Chalet Managers, Resort Administrator, Chalet Chefs/Hosts.

We are looking for an outstanding individual who is highly motivated, committed and conscientious to run our operations in resort. This role requires you to be highly dedicated and quick thinking in overseeing all resort operations as well as managing staff, problem solving, and building strong relationships with guests/suppliers and staff alike. The ideal candidate will:

 

  • Lead by example, you will manage and supervise the team, drive morale and motivation; ensure high standards of service and implement company disciplinary procedures as necessary.
  • Organise pre season training and any additional training throughout the season.
  • Carry out regular chalet checks and audits to maintain levels of cleanliness, service and food hygiene in accordance with our high company standards.
  • Monitor the usage of vehicles and property wear and tear; ensure that repairs and maintenance requirements are carried out promptly.
  • Support and supervise Chalet Managers to ensure they are carrying out their daily chalet visits.
  • Organise guest transfers to and from resort; and complete relevant resort paperwork and reports required by Head Office.
  • Maintain good relationships with suppliers/landlords and monitor the service provided by them.
  • Resolve successfully any unforeseen circumstances and problems relating to staff, guests, properties or any other resort operations.
  • Deal with any guest complaints and follow up on customer feedback.
  • Ensure all linen correctly accounted for and any relevant paperwork completed.
  • It is desirable that you understand or can speak French/German, be confident, friendly and organised to ensure that all aspects of the resort run smoothly.

 

RESORT ADMINISTRATOR

Responsible to: Resort Manager & UK Accounts Manager
Responsible for: Resort accounts and chalet budgets

This role is varied and challenging, and for the right candidate it will offer the unique opportunity to manage the resort accounts for the company. With previous accounting and ideally seasonal experience, you will be highly organised and efficient with a flexible and proactive approach to your work. Maintaining great relationships with suppliers is vital. The ideal individual will:

 

  • Process lift pass payments, resort supplier’s invoices, make payments and reconcile purchase ledger accounts.
  • Keep track of cash or card payments and liaise with the UK office to manage weekly resort cash flow.
  • Complete relevant resort paperwork and reports required by Head Office.
  • Oversee chalet stock levels and food orders to minimise food wastage and over ordering. Weekly reconciliation of chalet accounts; update the company system and ensure chalets are within allocated budgets and tackle any areas of concern.
  • Communicate with suppliers- shop owners, landlords, deliveries, ski hire, instructors, and whoever else.
  • Assist the Resort Manager and Chalet Managers in general ad hoc duties such as recycling, driving resort vehicles and helping to cover sick or injured chalet staff etc.
  • Ensure all linen correctly accounted for and any relevant paperwork completed.
  • It is desirable that you understand or can speak French, be confident, friendly and organised to ensure that all aspects of the resort run smoothly.

 

CHALET MANAGER

Responsible to: Operations Manager, Resort Manager
Responsible for: Guests and Chalet Staff

As a Chalet Manager, you play a key role as the representative of Ski-Val in resort. You will look after all aspects of your guests’ welfare during their holiday and build excellent relationships with them as a confident and approachable person. You must support your Resort Manager in the running of the resort and your role will vary from day to day. It is preferred that you have good spoken French or German and that you have previous experience as a Chalet Host. You must be flexible, proactive approach and be prepared to roll your sleeves up and muck in wherever necessary. You will be required to:

 

  • Assist in training and set up, creating guest information and staff paperwork folders, conformity and inventory lists, reports and continuing throughout season.
  • Meet and greet guests, accompany them on their transfers to and from resort and oversee their smooth arrival and departure. 
  • Liaise with insurance companies and hospitals as required in cases of injury and airlines and head office in the event of any logistical problems.
  • Provide information about lift passes and assist in their purchase and delivery while handling associated payments and administration.
  • Acquire an in-depth knowledge of the resort and its services. You will be able to answer all guests’ queries and questions during your daily chalet visits, as well as booking restaurants, taxis, nanny services or anything the guests will require help with.
  • Deal promptly and efficiently with all complaints and concerns raised.
  • Manage the logistics of moving equipment, food and wine between chalets as well as recycling and supporting chalets by covering for any chalet staff that are sick or injured.
  • Complete relevant resort paperwork and reports required by Head Office.
  • Ensure all linen correctly accounted for and any relevant paperwork completed.
  • Offer support and guidance to the Chalet Staff, monitor standards of service and chalet budgets, check stock levels.
  • Carry out regular chalet checks and audits to maintain levels of cleanliness, service and food hygiene in accordance with our high company standards.

 

HOTEL/BAR MANAGER

Responsible to: Resort Manager
Responsible for: Guests and Chalet Staff

As a Hotel/Bar Manager, you play a key role as the representative of Ski-Val in resort. HEAD CHEF

Responsible to: Resort Manager
Responsible for: Chalet guests, chalet staff

This is a fantastic opportunity to live and work in an outstandingly beautiful resort with over 300km of piste on your doorstep! This role requires you to be highly organised, motivated and hard working. Seasonal experience is preferred and experience in cooking in a professional environment and for large numbers is essential as Ski-Val are committed to providing an exceptional service to our guests and as head chef you will need to maintain our high standards. Professional cooking qualifications are desirable.

The ideal candidate will:

 

  • Be comfortable cooking a four-course evening meal, breakfast and afternoon tea cakes for up to 60 guests.
  • Understand the importance of a budget and dealing with stock ordering, rotation and being able to liaise with suppliers throughout the season. A good understanding of French/German would be an advantage.
  • Lead by example, you will have a kitchen team to supervise and you will need to ensure staff are motivated.
  • Be comfortable catering for guests’ dietary needs.
  • Maintain high levels of cleanliness in the kitchen and keep up to date on paperwork.
  • Have a nothing is too much trouble attitude and be able to think on your feet. You will be interacting with guests daily.
  • Hold a full UK driving license.

 

CHALET COOK / COUPLE

Responsible to: Chalet Manager
Responsible for: Chalet Guests

As a Chalet Cook or Couple you will work on your own or with your partner to run a successful and welcoming chalet to give your guests a fantastic Ski-Val holiday. It is essential that you have either cooking qualifications or professional cooking experience so that you are confident in providing your guests with delicious, mouth-watering food during their holiday. This includes a cooked breakfast; home baked afternoon tea, children’s high tea, canapés and a 3-course evening meal 6 days a week. You should be well presented, have a ‘nothing is too much trouble’ attitude and enjoy helping your guests feel comfortable, happy and well looked after. If applying as a couple, both should be able to cook as above. The ideal couple/individual will:

 

  • Be friendly, outgoing, hardworking and motivated. Passionate about cooking and entertaining as well as being confident to cook for 8 + people to a high standard.
  • Create a warm, friendly ‘home from home’ atmosphere in your chalet. In addition to providing all meals for adults and children, you will keep the chalet at a high standard by cleaning all bedrooms, bathrooms and communal areas. You will ensure that the kitchen is spotless at all times in line with high standards of hygiene and cleanliness.
  • Run your Chalet with full responsibility of menu planning, food and wine ordering, linen inventories and shopping, all of which is to be kept within a weekly chalet budget to be submitted to your Resort Administrator.

 

INDEPENDENT CHALET HOST/FLEXI HOST

Responsible to: Chalet Manager
Responsible for: Chalet Guests

As an Independent Chalet Host, you will work on your own to run a successful and welcoming chalet and ensure that your guests have a memorable Ski-Val holiday. It is essential that you have either cooking qualifications or professional cooking experience so that you are confident and able to provide your guests with delicious food during their stay. This includes a cooked breakfast; home baked afternoon tea, children’s high tea, canapés and a 3-course evening meal 6 days a week. You should be well presented, have a ‘nothing is too much trouble’ attitude and enjoy helping your guests feel comfortable, happy and well looked after. If applying as a Flexi host, you will be adaptable, love variety and work well in any team. Your role will be working alongside other hosts in our larger Chalets but you must also have the qualities listed above and be confident in running a chalet on your own as you may have to cover others. An Independent Chalet Host and Flexi host will be:

 

  • Friendly, outgoing, hardworking and motivated. Passionate about cooking and entertaining, you have the confidence to cook for 8 + people to a high dinner party standard.
  • Able to create a warm, friendly ‘home from home’ atmosphere in your chalet. Providing all meals for adults and children and you will keep the chalet at a high standard by cleaning all bedrooms, bathrooms and communal areas. You will ensure that the kitchen is spotless at all times in line with high standards of hygiene and cleanliness.
  • Responsible for running a chalet including menu planning, food and wine ordering, linen inventories and shopping, all of which is to be kept within a weekly chalet budget to be submitted to your Resort Administrator.

 

FLEXI HOST/MAINTENANCE

Responsible to: Chalet Manager
Responsible for: Chalet Guests

As a Flexi Host you will be adaptable, love variety and work well in any team. Your role will be working alongside other hosts in our larger Chalets. You must be confident in running a chalet on your own as you may have to cover others. It is desirable that you have either cooking qualifications or professional cooking experience so that you are confident and able to provide your guests with delicious food during their stay. This includes a cooked breakfast; home baked afternoon tea, children’s high tea, canapés and a 3-course evening meal 6 days a week. You should be well presented, have a ‘nothing is too much trouble’ attitude and enjoy helping your guests feel comfortable, happy and well looked after. To fulfill your maintenance duties, it is essential that you are practical, resourceful and have previous maintenance experience. As a flexi/maintenance person variety will be your spice of life. Responsibilities and requirements include:

 

  • Friendly, outgoing, hardworking and motivated. Passionate about cooking and entertaining, you have the confidence to cook for 8 + people to a high dinner party standard.
  • Able to create a warm, friendly ‘home from home’ atmosphere in your chalet. Providing all meals for adults and children and you will keep the chalet at a high standard by cleaning all bedrooms, bathrooms and communal areas. You will ensure that the kitchen is spotless at all times in line with high standards of hygiene and cleanliness.
  • Responsible for running a chalet including menu planning, food and wine ordering, linen inventories and shopping, all of which is to be kept within a weekly chalet budget to be submitted to your Resort Administrator.
  • Can think on your feet and be adaptable.
  • With a hardworking and flexible approach to your work, you will also be responsible for any maintenance issues in the chalets. From fixing leaky radiators to boiler maintenance, you will be able to turn your hand to anything.

 

NON-COOKERY CHALET HOST

Responsible to: Chalet Manager
Responsible for: Chalet Guests

We are looking for enthusiastic, capable team players to work in our larger chalets. You will be flexible, enthusiastic, with excellent communication skills and a love of meeting and mixing with new people. You will be responsible for creating a welcoming, warm, and homely environment for your guests and you will go out of your way to ensure they have a truly enjoyable and memorable holiday. Working as part of a team with other Hosts and Chalet Cooks, duties will require you to:

  • Support your colleagues in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness in all areas of the chalet.
  • Serve food, clear, and wash up dishes and assist in other areas of the chalet such as the kitchen or bar if necessary.
  • Be confident, outgoing, and well presented, be happy to socialise with your guests and use your initiative to respond promptly and proactively to their requests
  • Have essential previous customer service and hospitality experience. You must have good time keeping skills and be very reliable.
  • Above all, be an excellent team player and offer to roll your sleeves up and get stuck in where necessary to help your colleagues.
